An “Instagram Rich list” has revealed very stunning information about the most popular influencers on Instagram. It is already known that many companies are willing to spend a vast amount of money for reaching out especially to younger people. But most people won’t guess the right amount that Top Instagram Influencers can charge per post. Therefore, the following list is very astonishing.
The information has been compiled by Hopper HQ, a UK-based company that has developed a tool that can schedule Instagram posts for individuals and companies. They have used privately and publicly available data, e.g. by reaching out to influencers or their agents.
Here is the result: the biggest earner on Instagram is neither a worldwide known actress as Cameron Diaz nor a very famous actor as Tom Hanks (both have 5.5 mio. followers on Instagram). It is also not Instagram's most followed person (Selena Gomez with more than 144 mio. followers), but instead, the half-sister of Kim Kardashian West: Kylie Jenner.

According to Hopper HQ’s list, she makes a whopping $1 mio. per post. Selena Gomez took second place and makes $800,000 per post. Following close behind are star soccer player Cristiano Ronaldo ($750,000), model and television personality Kim Kardashian West ($720,000). The American singer Beyoncé can charge around $700,000 per upload on Instagram.
Semi-retired professional wrestler and actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who is known for his movies such as “Fast & Furious 6”, “Baywatch” or “Rampage”. With 124 mio. followers on Instagram, he makes around $650,000 per post. “The Rock” is followed by the Canadian singer and songwriter Justin Bieber ($630,000).
Earnings of people who became popular on Instagram and YouTube
While these aforementioned individuals are very famous, there are also some lesser-known influencers who can make a good living from their Instagram accounts. E.g. the Iraqi-American beauty blogger and makeup artist Huda Kattan with more than 31 mio. followers on Instagram is charging around $30,000 for one single post.
Why are advertisers spending so much on Influencer marketing?
Influencer marketing is used to reach out to people, especially to people below 40. Some people may just wonder whether the earnings of Instagram influencers are really reasonable. There are also some companies which are still skeptical about booking influencers. But there is proof that influencer marketing is a very effective way to increase brand awareness and to drive sales (as we have discussed recently here and as REUTERS has reported here).
This explains why companies and advertising companies spent $1 billion dollars for marketing campaigns on Instagram in 2017. While for some this may sound like a very huge amount, the spending may even increase in the next years: The marketing agency Mediakix even states that spending could reach $10 billion by 2020.
